ANSU Orchids invests in smarter blackout
and energy savings
For ANSU Orchids, energy savings and precision go
hand in hand. Working closely with Holland Scherming
and Svensson, the nursery upgraded to the new Obscura
9970 FR A blackout screen, combining innovation, trust,
and craftsmanship.
At ANSU in Wateringen, precision, quality, and energy
savings are paramount. The 8.8-hectare nursery contin-
uously invests in innovations to optimize the greenhouse
climate and utilize energy more efficiently. In October
2024, the Obscura 9950 FR W climate screen was re-
placed by the updated, exclusive, and more energy-effi-
cient Obscura 9970 FR A. The project was carried out by

Cut Anthuriums back in the spotlight!
Cut Anthuriums are making a real comeback! Leading
designers and major brands are increasingly featuring
these elegant flowers in their collections. At the recent
World Cup Floral Art in The Hague, cut Anthuriums took
centre stage—clear proof that these floral beauties are
back in vogue.
Their renewed popularity is also reflected in produc-
tion. Growers are investing heavily in their crops, and
across the world, new greenhouses are being built or
existing facilities converted for the cultivation of cut
Anthuriums. A fine example is a recent project in Italy,
where two hectares previously used for growing Chry-
santhemums are now devoted to producing a wide-rang-
ing selection of cut Anthuriums.
Significant investments are also underway beyond Eu- in the greenhouse. This is not entirely unexpected, giv-
