FISHERIES AND FISH FARMING
First floating solar-powered fish
farming pen in Chile
Mowi has launched the first
low-emission fish farming installa‑
tion in Chile, featuring a floating so‑
lar‑powered pen system at the Huar
Norte site. The solution is being im‑
plemented with key contributions
from AKVA group, which delivered
the pen infrastructure and solar inte‑
gration, and from energy technology
providers Alotta Energy and Fjord
Maritime.
Developed in collaboration with

time, the project represents a signif‑
icant breakthrough in efforts to re‑
duce the use of fossil fuels and avoid
CO₂ emissions in sea‑based aquacul‑
ture.
