POULTRY
MACHINE THAT IS ABLE TO DETECT BROKEN
PLASTIC EGG TRAYS
GI-OVO B.V. known for the EggsCargoSys-
tem® ECS has recently launched a machine
that is able to detect broken plastic egg trays.
GI-OVO developed this machine because bro-
ken trays can lead to damage to machines and

damage to machines and eggs can amount
to a lot of money every year.
Of course we would like nothing more than
for our EggsCargo trays to last forever, says
GI OVO’s general manager Jacco Wagelaar,
but unfortunately that is not the case. Our trays
last a really long time, in most cases more than
10 years, says Wagelaar, but there will come
a time when the trays break at certain points.
Our customers really understand that the trays
will eventually come to an end, but until now
the problem has been how to get these broken
trays out of circulation.
We have now developed the ECS Tray In-
spector® for this. A smart device that uses
Vision Technology to view the trays in a split

second. When it appears that a tray is broken,
it is removed, where the unbroken trays pass
through a conveyor back into circulation. The
ECS Tray Inspector® can be used stand-alone

or in line with existing machines. In addition
